The Network
How the Network works
1. What is the Network?
In construction, your best work isn't about who you've worked for. It's about what you did on the projects you worked on.
The Akobuild Network is a professional record built around projects, not job titles. Every building is a node. Every person who worked on it is a connection. Over time, your profile becomes a verified map of your career — the projects you delivered, the teams you built them with, and the roles you played.
It sits alongside LinkedIn, not instead of it. Think of it as the layer LinkedIn was never designed to provide.
2. How it works
Add a project
Search for a building or project you worked on. Add the name, location, building type, your role, and the company you worked for at the time.
When adding your project, tell us whether it was an original build — a project that constructed the building from the ground up — or a building improvement, which covers any refurbishment, fit out, extension, or intervention on an existing building.
If your project is a building improvement, you can search for the original building on Akobuild and link your project to it. This creates a building history — a thread connecting every team that has ever worked on that building over its lifetime. The 2011 construction team, the 2020 refurbishment team, and the 2027 fit out team all connected through the same building record.
You can add whole buildings or specific scopes — a full hospital, a single floor fit out, a roof replacement, even a single classroom refresh. No project is too small. Every intervention is part of the building's story.
Invite your team
Generate a single-use link and share it with someone who worked on the project with you. They create their own account and join the project with their own role, company, and description of what they did.
Verify each other
Team members confirm each other's involvement. Two confirmations from fellow project members — people other than whoever invited you — moves a claim to verified status. Nobody can verify themselves.
Build your record
Every project you add appears on that project's page with your name and role — this is always visible to anyone viewing the project, since a project record with anonymous participants has no value as evidence. Your CPD, badges, and full project history stay private to you, unless you choose to make your full profile public.
3. The verification model
Verification is the foundation of the Network. Without it, a project history is just a list of claims.
Here's how we keep it honest. Confirmation requires at least two fellow team members who are themselves genuinely on the project — not the person who invited you. By adding a project, you're confirming this is genuine — false claims are easily disproved by the people who were actually there. The construction industry is a small world; the same people appear on the same projects, know the same clients, and work in the same regions for decades.
This also means every fully verified project has a minimum of three confirmed members. Two confirmations can't be reached until at least three people are on the project — so every verified record represents a real team, not a single claim.
If you believe something on the Network is inaccurate, contact us at hello@akobuild.comand we'll look into it.
4. What you can do with it
- Your project record.Your name and role appear on every project you're genuinely part of. Choose to make your full profile — your complete project history, badges, and headline — public, and share it anywhere: on LinkedIn, in a bid, or just as a record of what you've built.
- Your teams.See every person you've worked with across your career, the projects you shared, and the roles they played.
- Bid and tender support. When pursuing new work, a verified project history is one link away — no more assembling CV packs and project schedules from scratch.
- Project discovery. Explore buildings, find out who built them, and connect with the people behind them.
- Building history.Buildings are not built once. They are adapted, improved, extended, and repurposed across decades. Akobuild reflects that reality. When you link a building improvement to its original build, your project becomes part of that building's permanent history. Anyone viewing the original building record can see every team that has worked on it since it was first constructed, in chronological order, with the scope of each intervention and the people who carried it out.
This means the team appointed to refurbish Level 6 of a building in 2027 can find the team who converted Level 8 in 2020, see their roles, and reach out directly. The knowledge that lives in the people who worked on a building before you is now findable.
No other platform connects buildings to their full human history. That's what the Akobuild Network is building.
5. Who is it for?
Anyone who delivers construction projects, including:
- Client and owner side— clients, project managers, employer's agents, cost managers, contract administrators, development managers
- Design and consultancy — architects, structural and civil engineers, MEP engineers, environmental and planning consultants, interior designers, landscape architects
- Main contractor — contracts managers, project managers, site managers, site engineers, commercial managers, quantity surveyors, planners, health and safety managers
- Specialist contractors and trades— steelwork, concrete, cladding, roofing, M&E, fit out, groundworks, bricklayers, joiners, plasterers
If you've worked on a building project in any capacity, there's a place for you here.
6. Privacy and your data
Your name and role are visible on any project you're genuinely part of — this is fundamental to how the Network's verification works, and there's no way to opt out of it while remaining a genuine participant.
Your full public profile (your complete project history, badges, and a shareable link) is separate, and always your choice to switch on.
Your email address is never displayed publicly. You control your LinkedIn URL and can leave it blank. You can remove yourself from a project at any time. Photos, once available, will be visible as part of the project record.
Akobuild is built by a construction professional, not a data business. We do not sell your information.
