Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 13 April 2026
Please read these terms carefully before using Akobuild or placing an order for any scenario build. By accessing the platform or submitting a scenario brief you agree to be bound by them.
1. About Akobuild
Akobuild is a scenario-based learning platform for project management and quantity surveying professionals. It is operated by David Hughes, a sole trader based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Contact: hello@akobuild.com
2. Services
Akobuild provides two types of service:
Scenario build — a one-off service to design and deliver a bespoke scenario based on a client brief. Three tiers are available: Standard (£299), Bespoke (£499), and Complex (£799). The full scope of each tier is set out in the Akobuild Service Specification, which forms part of these terms and is provided to clients prior to order confirmation.
Platform subscription — a monthly subscription giving the client access to their scenario library via shareable links. Three tiers are available: Starter (£149/month), Growth (£349/month), and Pro (£649/month).
3. Ordering and payment
A scenario build order is confirmed when the client has submitted a completed brief form or attended a discovery call, received a written order confirmation from Akobuild, and made full payment of the applicable build fee.
Build work commences only upon receipt of cleared payment. Akobuild reserves the right to decline any order at its discretion.
Subscription billing begins on the date the client's first scenario goes live and is charged monthly in advance. Subscriptions continue until cancelled by either party in accordance with clause 6.
All prices are exclusive of VAT. VAT will be applied where applicable in accordance with current HMRC rules.
4. Delivery
Akobuild will use reasonable endeavours to deliver completed scenarios within the timescales stated in the Service Specification. Timescales run from the date of completed brief submission or discovery call, whichever is later.
Timescales are estimates and not guaranteed delivery dates. Delays caused by incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the client do not affect the delivery timescale.
5. Amends
Each scenario tier includes a defined number of amend rounds as set out in the Service Specification. Amend rounds must be requested within 30 days of scenario delivery. Amend rounds not used within this period are forfeited. Additional amend rounds beyond those included are available at £75 per round, invoiced separately.
Amends cover factual corrections, terminology adjustments, and content refinements within the agreed scope. Amends do not include fundamental changes to scenario structure, decision points, or scope that go beyond the original brief.
6. Cancellation and refunds
Scenario build fees are non-refundable once build work has commenced. If a client wishes to cancel before build work has commenced, a full refund will be issued less any reasonable costs already incurred.
Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time by contacting hello@akobuild.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for unused subscription days within a billing period. On cancellation, access to scenario links will cease at the end of the final billing period.
7. Intellectual property
All scenarios built by Akobuild remain the intellectual property of David Hughes trading as Akobuild. The client is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use their scenarios for internal organisational purposes during the period of an active Akobuild subscription.
The licence does not permit the client to copy, modify, resell, sublicence, or share scenario content with third parties outside their organisation without prior written consent from Akobuild.
On termination of subscription, the client's licence to use their scenarios ceases. Scenario links will be deactivated.
8. Client responsibilities
The client is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all information provided in brief forms and discovery sessions. Akobuild accepts no liability for scenario content that reflects inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information supplied by the client.
The client is responsible for ensuring scenarios are used appropriately within their organisation and in compliance with applicable employment and data protection law, particularly where scenarios are used for pre-hire assessment purposes.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Akobuild's total liability to the client in connection with any order shall not exceed the total fees paid by the client in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Akobuild accepts no liability for indirect, consequential, or special losses including loss of profit, loss of business, or reputational damage.
Akobuild does not provide legal advice. Where scenario content touches on contract law, health and safety, or regulatory compliance, clients should seek independent professional advice before relying on that content for operational decisions.
10. Changes to these terms
Akobuild may update these terms from time to time. Clients will be notified of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from use of Akobuild shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
